John Kawasoe attended Boise State University on a golf scholarship and was a four year letterman, and All Big Sky Conference player his sophomore through senior year. He graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communication.
John turned his golf career professional in 1991. He played on various mini tours across the country for two years before he became a dedicated Club Professional. He started his Club Pro journey at Angel Park Golf Club, then moved to Springhill Country Club before he became the Director of Golf at Mallard Creek in Lebanon in 1999. Then, he served as the Head Golf Professional at Astoria Golf & Country Club where he has been for the past twenty years. Throughout his golfing career, he has been awarded the OPGA Teacher of the Year (2010), and the OPGA Golf Professional of the year (2018). He joined the Pumpkin Ridge family in 2022 and has been the perfect addition to our team.
